Volunteer
in India with Global PeaceWorks. Live and work with people
of other
cultures
- creating
a model of peace among religions in India and the world. This
is an interfaith service project for people interested in creating
peace through active service
and spiritual understanding.
Global PeaceWorks is actively seeking organizational
partners to plan our next program. If you represent an organization
and would like to work with us, please
contact us.
If
you have ever dreamed about Peace on Earth, Global PeaceWorks
will help you realize that your dream is possible! Join our
program and be part of a group of Hindu,
Muslim,
Sikh,
Baha'i,
Christian, and other volunteers.
Share, learn and serve together. Visit sacred
sites and explore the common themes of all religions. Be
part of a model world community living in peace! (You
can also read about the people who did this in before!)
The
project will involve volunteers
of many faiths serving
with a local NGO charity in the greater Delhi
area and include visits to religious sites and meetings and
discussions with religious leaders of
several faiths.
Candidates
interested in world religions and creating peace among
religions are encouraged to apply. If
you are interested, complete our on-line
application and we will contact you with more
information.
Cooperating organizations for this project
will include Chetanalaya (a
social action organization of the Delhi Catholic Archdiocese);
the Muslim Youth League; the Indian
Bahá'í Community; Gobind
Sadan; and The
Religious Youth Service (RYS).
The
project includes
- shared living (participants will share a room
with someone of a different cultural / religious tradition)
- group activities (learning cooperative processes
among different cultures)
- cultural programs (song, poetry, art and
dance)
- religious practices (experiential
learning of each other's religious traditions through visits
to sacred sites and prayer and meditation exercises)
- charitable service work (this
will involve some manual labor like carrying bricks or
painting for a community in need)
Note:
This event is NOT a conference but an active learning experience
which includes charitable service
work and cooperative
experiential educational programs.
